संक्षिप्त वर्णन......
इसमें गणित, विज्ञान, आयुर्वेद, समाज शास्त्र, कृषि विज्ञान, आदि अनेक विषय वर्णित हैं। कुछ लोग हसमें मंत्र-तंत्र भी खोजते हैं। यह वेद जहाँ ब्रह्म ज्ञान का उपदेश करता है, वहीं मोक्ष का उपाय भी बताता है। इसे ब्रह्म वेद भी कहते हैं। इसमें मुख्य रूप में अथर्वण और ऑगिरस ऋषियों के मंत्र होने के कारण अथर्व आंगिरस भी कहते हैं। यह २० काण्डो में विभवकत है। प्रत्येक काण्ड में कई-कई सूत्र हैं और सूत्रों में मंत्र हैं। इस वेद में कुल ५९७७ मंत्र हैं। इसकी आजकल दो
शाखाएं शौणिक एवं पिप्पलाद ही उपलब्ध हैं। अथर्ववेद का विद्वानू चारों वेदों का ज्ञाता होता है।यज्ञ में कवेद का होता देवों का आहान करता है, सामवेद का उद्गाता सामगान करता है, यजुर्वेद का अध्वर्यु देवःकोटीकर्म का वितान करता है तथा अथर्ववेद का ब्रह्म पूरे यज्ञ कर्म पर नियंत्रण रखता है।

अथर्ववेद को ब्रह्मवेद भी कहते हैं।

चरणव्यूह ग्रंथ के अनुसार अथर्वसंहिता की नी शाखाएँ है-

१. पैपल, २. दान्त, ३. प्रदान्त, ४. सात, ५, सौल, ६. ब्रह्मदाबल, ७. शौनक, ८. देवदर्शत और ९.चरणविद्या वर्तमान में केवल दो शाखाकी जानकारी मिलता है-१जिसका पहला मन्त्र- शन्नो देवीरभिष्टय आपो

भवन्तु.. इत्यादि है वह पिप्पलाद संहिताशासखा तथा २ये त्रिशप्ता परियन्ति विश्वारुपाणि विभ्रत..इत्यादि पहला मन्त्रवाला शौनक सहिता शाखा। जिसमें सेशौनक संहिता ही उपलब्ध हो पाती है। वैदिकविद्वानों के अनुसार ७५९ सूुक्त ही प्राप्त होते हैं। सामान्यतः अथर्ववेद में ६००० मन्त्र

होने का मिलता है परन्तु किसी-किसी में ५९८७ या ५९७७ मन्त्र ही मिलते हैं।
अथर्ववेद के विषय में कुछ मुख्य तथ्य निम्नलिखित है-

अथर्ववेद की भाषा और स्वरूप के आधार पर ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस वेद की रचना

सबसे बाद में हुई। इसमें ऋग्वेद और सामवेद से भी मन्त्र लिये गये हैं। जादू से सम्बन्धित मन्त्र-

तन्त्र, राक्षस, पिशाच, आदि भयानक शक्तियाँ अथर्ववेद के महत्त्वपूर्ण विषय हैं। इसमें भूत-प्रेत,जादू-टोने आदि के मन्त्र हैं। ऋग्वेद के उच्च कोटि के देवताओ को इस वेद में गौण स्थान प्राप्त हुआ है। घर्म के इतिहास की दृष्टि से वेद और अथर्ववेद दोनों का बढ़ा ही मूल्य है।

 Many topics in mathematics, science, Ayurveda, sociology, agricultural science, etc. are described in it.  Some people also find mantras in it.  While this Veda preaches Brahm Gyan, it also explains the way of salvation.  It is also called Brahma Veda.  It is also called Atharva Angiras mainly due to the mantras of Rishis and Atharvans.  It has potential in 20 condos.  There are many sutras in each kand and there are mantras in sutras.  There are a total of 599 mantras in this Veda.  Its two nowadays
 Branches Shaunik and Piplad are available only.  The scholar of the Atharvaveda is the knowledgeer of the four Vedas. In the Yajna, Kavada happens to invoke the Gods, the Samaveda is the origin of the Samaja, the Adhvaryu of the Yajurveda finishes the Devasakotikrama and the Brahma of the Atharvaveda controls the entire Yajna Karma.

 The Atharvaveda is also known as the Brahma Veda.
According to the Charanvuya Granth, there are nine branches of Atharvasamhita -

 1.  Papel, 2.  Dant, 3.  Provided, 4.  Seven, 5, Saul, 4.  Brahmadabal, 4.  Shaunak, 4.  Devdarshat and 7. Charanavidya currently get information about only two branches - 1 whose first mantra - Shanno Deveerbhitya Apo Bhavantu .. etc. is Pippalad Samhita Shasakha and 2 Ye Trishapta Parianti Vishwarupani Vibharat .. It is the first mantwala Shaunak Sahita Branch.  In which only Sehounak Samhita is available.  According to Vedic scholars 659 suktas are received.  Generally 6000 mantras in the Atharvaveda It is found to be but in some people only 596 or 596 mantras are found.

 There are spells of witchcraft etc.  The superior gods of the Rigveda received a secondary place in this Veda.

 Has happened.  Both the Vedas and the Atharvaveda have great value in terms of history of religion.
