संक्षिप्त वर्णन......
यजुर्वेद हिन्दू धर्म का एक महत्त्वपूर्ण श्रुति धर्मग्रन्थ और चार वेदों में से एक है। हसमें यज्ञ की असल प्रक्रिया के लिये गद्य और पद्य मन्त्र हैं। ये हिन्दू धर्म के चार पवित्रतम प्रमुख ग्रन्यों में से एक है और अक्सर ऋग्वेद के बाद दूसरा वेद माना जाता है - इसमें ऋम्वेद के ६६३ मेंत्र पाए जाते हैं। फिर भी इसे ऋग्वेद से अलग माना जाता है क्योंकि यजुर्वेद मुख्य रूप से एक गद्यात्मक ग्रन्थ है। यज्ञ में कहे जाने वाले गद्यात्मक मन्त्रों को "यजुस" कहा जाता है। यजुर्वेद के पद्यात्मक मन्त्र
ऋग्वेद या अथर्ववेद से लिये गये है। इनमें स्वतनत्र पद्यात्मक मन्त्र बहुत कम हैं यजुर्वेद में दो शाखा हैं : दक्षिण भारत में प्रचलित कृष्ण यजुर्वेद और उत्तर भारत में प्रचलित शुक्ल यजुर्वेद शाखा।

नाम और विषय........

यजुस के नाम पर ही वेद का नाम यजुस+वेदा-यजुर्वेद) शब्दों की संधि से बना है। यजू का अर्थ समर्पण से होता है। पदार्थ (जैसे ईधन, ची, आदि), कर्म (सेवा, तर्पण ), श्रष्ध, योग, हंद्रिय निग्रह। इत्यादि के हवन को यजन यानि समर्पण की क्रिया कहा गया है। इस वेद में अधिकांशतः यज्ञों और हवनों के नियम और विधान हैं, अतःयह ग्रन्थ कर्मकाण्ड प्रधान है यजुर्वेद की संहिताएं लगभग अंतिम रची गई संहिताएं थीं, जो ईसा पूर्व द्वितीय सहस्राब्दि से प्रथम सहस्राब्दी के आरंभिक सदियों में लिखी गई थी। इस ग्रन्थ से आयों के सामाजिक और धार्मिक जीवन पर प्रकाश पड़ता है। उनके समय की बर्ण-व्यवस्था तथा वर्णाश्रम की झाँकी भी इसमें है। यजुर्वेद संहिता में वैदिक काल के धर्म के कर्मकाण्ड आयोजन हेतु यज्ञ करने के लिये मंत्रों का संग्रह है। इनमे कर्मकाण्ड के कई यज्ञो का विवरण है: अग्निहोत्र, अश्वमेघ, जपेय, सोमयज्ञ, राजसूय, अग्निचयन ऋ्रग्वेद के लगभग ६६३ मंत्र यथावत् यजुर्वेद में मिलते हैं। यजुर्वेद वेद का एक ऐसा प्रभाग

है, जो आज भी जन-जीवन में अपना स्थान किसी न किसी रूप में बनाये हुए है। संस्कारों एवं यज्ञीय कर्मकाण्डों के अधिकांश मन्त्र यजुर्वेद के ही हैं।

संप्रदाय, शाखाएं और संहिताएं........

संप्रदाय

यजुर्वेदाध्यायी परम्परा में दो सम्प्रदाय- ब्रह्म समप्रदाय अथवा कृष्ण यजुर्वेद और आदित्य सम्प्रदाय अथवा शुक्ल यजुर्वेद ही प्रमुख हैं।

संहिताएं

वर्तमान में कृष्ण यजुर्वेद की शाखा में ४ संहिताएँ -तैत्तिरीय, मैत्रायणी, कठ और कपिष्ल कठ ही उपलब्ध हैं। शुक्ल यजुर्वेद की शाखाओं में दो प्रधान संहिताएँ- १. मध्यदिन संहिता और २. काण्य संहिता ही वर्तमान में उपलब्ध हैं। आजकल प्रायः उपलब्ध होने वाला यजुर्वेद मध्यदिन सहिता ही है। इसमें ४० अध्याय, १९७५ कण्डिकाएँ ( एक कण्डिका कई भागों में यागादि अनुष्ठान कर्मों में प्रयुक्त होने से कई मन्त्रों वाली होती है।) तथा ३९८८ मन्त्र हैं। विश्वविख्यात गायत्री मंत्र (३६३) तथा महामृत्युञ्जय मन्त्र (३.६०) हसमें भी है।

शाखाएं

यजुर्वेद कर्मकाण्ड से जुडा हुआ है। इसमें विभिन्न यज्ञो (जैसे अश्वमेघ) का वर्णन है। यजुर्वेद पाठ अध्वुर्य द्वारा किया जाता है। यजुर्वेद ५ शासखाओ मे विभक्त् है -

1. काठक
2. कपिष्ठल
3. मैत्रियाणी
4. तैतीरीय
5. वाजसनेयी

Short Description......
Yajurveda is an important Shruti scripture of Hinduism and one of the four Vedas.  We have prose and verse mantra for the actual process of Yajna.  It is one of the four holiest major granaries of Hinduism and is often considered to be the second Veda after the Rigveda - it contains 43 mantras of the Rimveda.  Nevertheless, it is considered different from the Rigveda as the Yajurveda is primarily a prose book.  The prose chants called in Yajna are called "Yajus".  Yajurveda Phonetic Mantra
Is derived from the Rigveda or the Atharvaveda.  Among them there are very few Swatantra phonetic mantras. Yajurveda has two branches: Krishna Yajurveda practiced in South India and Shukla Yajurveda Branch prevalent in North India.


 Name and Subject ........
The name of the Veda is derived from the treaty of the words Yajus + Veda-Yajurveda).  Yaju means dedication.  Substances (such as fuel, chi, etc.), karma (seva, tarpan), sraddha, yoga, Hindu grace.  The havan of etc. has been called Yajna i.e. the act of surrender.  This Veda mostly contains the rules and ordinances of Yajnas and Havanas, so this text is the ritual ritual. The codes of the Yajurveda were almost the last composed codes, written in the early centuries of the second millennium BCE.  This book sheds light on the social and religious life of the Ayas.  The tableau of his time and the varnasrama are also in it.  In the Yajurveda Samhita, there is a collection of mantras to perform Yajna for performing ritual rituals of the Vedic period religion.  There are details of many Yagyas of rituals: Agnihotra, Ashvamegh, Japay, Somayagya, Rajasuya, Agnichayan, about 43 mantras of the Rigveda are found in the Yajurveda.  One such division of Yajurved Veda
 Is, which is still maintaining its place in public life in one way or the other.  Most of the mantras of sacraments and sacrificial rituals belong to Yajurveda.

 Sects, Branches and Codes ........

 Sect
Two sects - Brahma Sampradaya or Krishna Yajurveda and Aditya Sampradaya or Shukla Yajurveda are prominent in the Yajurvedadhyayi tradition.

 Codes
At present, there are 4 codes in the branch of Krishna Yajurveda - Taittiriya, Maitrayani, Kath and Kapishla Kath.  Two main codes in the branches of Shukla Yajurveda - 1.  Midday Code and 2.  The Kanya Samhita is currently available.  The Yajurveda, which is often available nowadays, is the middle day.  It consists of 40 chapters, 1985 Kandikas (one Kandika containing many mantras in many parts from being used in Yagadi rituals). And 399 Mantras.  World famous Gayatri Mantra (373) and Mahamrityunjaya Mantra (3.80) are also in it.

 Branches
The Yajurveda is associated with rituals.  It describes various yagnas (eg Ashwamedha).  The Yajurveda text is performed by Adhvurya.  The Yajurveda is divided into 5 rulers -
